This camouflage is based on a real experimental pattern used on M577A2 command vehicles of the U.S. 2nd Cavalry Regiment in the 1990s. It was developed as part of limited field trials for digital patterns intended for use in Europe. According to unconfirmed reports, the design may have been prepared for potential operations in border regions of Eastern Europe. It stands as one of the earliest documented examples of pixelated camouflage in NATO service — a predecessor to the digital camo systems used today.
