A two-seat combat-training modification of the Japanese F-2 multi-role fighter. The aircraft was developed in cooperation with the United States on the basis of the experimental F-16 Agile Falcon variant. Special radio-absorbing coatings are used to reduce conspicuity. Compared to the F-16, it has increased dimensions of the fuselage, wing and tail fin, which has a positive effect on takeoff and landing characteristics. The onboard equipment is almost entirely Japanese-made and is significantly superior to the prototype.
